Opportunities at the Advanced Electron Microscopy Lab (AEML)
We are currently seeking enthusiastic postdoctoral researchers and graduate students interested in energy storage/conversion materials research through advanced electron microscopy techniques. Our lab utilizes state-of-the-art TEM/STEM systems, including the Titan, Talos, and Tecnai microscopes with some dedicated detectors. Position 1: Postdoctoral Researcher
Topics
- Machine learning and automation in EM analysis.
- In-situ/Operando TEM studies on energy storage materials, including batteries and fuel cells.
Basic Requirements
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Condensed Matter Physics, Solid State Chemistry, or related disciplines.
- Expertise in TEM characterization techniques
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proven track record of disseminating research results through scientific publications and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electrochemical characterization of battery materials.
- Experience in in-situ TEM and/or aberration-corrected TEM/STEM.
- Experience with TEM data analysis, including proficiency in data acquisition, analysis, and modeling (e.g., MATLAB).
Salary
- Postdoc salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Position 2: Graduate Student Opportunities
Topics
- In-situ/Operando TEM studies on energy storage materials, including batteries and fuel cells.
- Correlative analysis between performance degradation and structural changes in advanced materials.
- Development low-dose electron microscopy techniques for sensitive materials.
Required Background and Skills
- Academic background in Physics, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English or Korean.
